Ch-ch-ch-changes

If you’ve been following me for a bit, you might have seen those words before.  This “blog” is almost four years old. Zowie–how time flies when you’re having fun.

Or not having fun.

It still flies.

But I’m all about ch-ch-ch-change.  Especially when things aren’t working.

Like my DIY website Designs by KTGreen.

After almost ONE YEAR.  Not working.

Lauri and Terry P.  are pretty much my only followers. Well, maybe Yvonne and Donna check it out once in awhile.

Thank you Lauri and Terry and Yvonne and Donna.  But I think it’s time to just give up.

Okay. Not giving up.  But it’s time to adapt.

I made a whole lot of stuff and ran giveaways and wrote clever posts.  But doing all that sewing and photographing and writing and getting no new readers–I think it’s time to move on.  Not sure how I’m going to handle that website at this moment.  I’ll still be sewing ’cause that’s just who I am.  I’ll post the QAYG blocks here–I’ve got March’s almost ready.  And the finished quilts if I ever get back to that.

I did put a lot of effort into Designs by KT Green for several months but didn’t get very much feedback.  Meanwhile I started on a different project which I really enjoyed.  And DID get a lot of positive response from.  More about that in weeks to come!

But I have LOTS of OTHER ideas.  And friends that leave me phone messages with more ideas.  (Thank you Gil)

Poor Terry.  My head is just brimming with stuff.  Sometimes he says “no” (like my dream of running an art gallery right here in Old Homosassa or buying all the empty houses on my street). Other times he’s “that might work, let’s check it out”. He even sat through a SCORE seminar just to support me in my latest crazy idea. He even introduced himself as the person that carries my bags. (Once in awhile I hear him utter under his breath, “happy wife happy life”.)

He’s pretty good about all the geeky or techie or music or sewing things I think that I need.

I don’t want pedicures or designer clothes or diamonds or a vacation to Paris or an Escalade. (Mind you, there’s certainly nothing wrong with any of that stuff but where my head is right now, it just doesn’t fit)

I want fabric and jeans and Adobe Creative Cloud and trips to DC and ND and a Deering Banjo.  (Hmmmm, maybe a Corvette)

Terry and festival crew
Terry was supposed to meet me at the Shed. Saw his Jeep but didn’t see him. Found him with this bunch of Civic Club members. Okay, they aren’t just members, they are also chair people and helpers of the festival and have taken over the children’s outreach program.  All working to make the Homosassa Civic Club and the Festival the best EVER!

How many people are lucky enough to live in Perfect??????

So what’s going on this weekend?

We are having a clean up day at the Old Homosassa Water Tower.  9:30 am.  Bring your shovels and hoes and trimmers and all that other stuff.  Oh yeah, don’t forget your garden gloves.  We plan to be finished by 11:00 am.

And then we probably oughta and should really go visit Terry’s mom in Tampa and go to a basketball game that the absolutely adorable precious grandkids are playing in.

We hear that JACK is a basketball star. He was pretty good at four. Looking forward to seeing basketball star at five!

Also planning on going to the “Art in the Park” in Brooksville at the Tom Varn Park on Sunday.

(But to be totally honest, right now, on Thursday evening while I’m typing this after an entire week of anxiety-producing meetings (oh wait I did go to see “Under the Willow” on Tuesday so I guess I can’t count that as stressful) I think I’d rather stay home on Sunday, sleep in, have a big breakfast with a bloody mary or two, then take a nap….or..two.)

And that’s life in Perfect!

Have a great weekend!

Kathy

art gallery
Isn’t this the PERFECT house for an Art Gallery? Right “downtown” Old Homosassa. Not far from the other galleries. PERFECT. And I hear it’s going on the market. But I’m not an artist so I probably can’t convince Terry that I need this!

Friday Meanderings

Bush Daisy

Well, it’s Friday already.

Again.

Another busy week with not a lot accomplished.  Sometimes I feel like I’m just running in place.  Kind of like running on a treadmill.  Which means I’m burning calories.  Right?

I’ll be really skinny any day now!

Don’t get me wrong. I really prefer being busy.  Lots of different projects going on. Lots of different people to interact with.

That way I don’t dwell on the little stuff.

Like, why didn’t I get invited to that party, or why didn’t so and so sit with me at lunch, or why didn’t I get a valentine from that kid…….oh wait…..that was third grade.

Sometimes I have days like that.

This will be another beautiful Florida perfect weekend.

Where will we be?

Gosh, I hope on the boat at some point, but other than that…..

The Luminary Art Walk in Old Homosassa is tonight and tomorrow night.  This is a really fun event.  Our local artist community pulls this together and does a great job.  I didn’t get out there to talk to the galleries this year (slacker) but here’s some of their work that I’ve featured in the past:

The Floral City Strawberry Festival is this weekend, too.  Hopefully we’ll get there.

So much to do.

So little time!

Have a great weekend,

Friday Meanderings

otter

The other day I was looking out the sun room windows and saw this guy on the boat dock.

otter

So went out to see what I could see.

I keep a pretty safe distance when the otters visit.  They can be a bit cranky.  When they’re in the water they usually bark at me.  But when on the dock, they often just ignore me.  Like this guy.

Looks like he’s growing weary of dealing with the paparazzi.

One last glance and I thought he was going to go into the canal.

Nope, he just decided it was safe and he could catch some rays on his tummy.

When the sun left the kayak ramp, so did the otter.

So what are you doing this weekend?  I’m planning on continuing to get some gardening done.  Supposed to be a bit cooler than average but the sun will be shining.  This has gotta be the last cold snap, right?  We just finished rebuilding and painting the trellis. So much more to do.

The Homosassa Library started it’s annual Spring sale yesterday.  It’s called a fire sale this year because the storage building they were using for the books burnt down along with all the donations.  But the people of Homosassa stepped up and donated more.  It runs through Saturday so you still have time to pick up some good bargains.

It’s March on Tuesday.  (Zowie–wasn’t it just Christmas?!)  And it will be a busy month.  Besides St. Patty’s Day and Easter, there are a lot of local events.

March 4th and 5th is the 16th Annual Luminary Art Night.  From 5 – 9.   This is always a lot of fun.  All the local art shops will be open late and the sidewalks will be lined with luminaries.  We’ll be there, as usual.  Love this event! Hey Ellen and Bill–is this on your calendar????

The Shrimpapalooza is on March 19th.  But I won’t be there.  What???? I know.  Craziness.  I love the Shrimpapalooza golf cart parade and I read somewhere that the Shriners will be there in their little cars.  Or did I dream that?  Sometimes I get reality and my dreams mixed together.  (normal? no? should I be worried?)

So what am I doing?  I’m off to BANJO CAMP!  So excited.  I’m trying to not think about what I’m going to miss at the Shrimpapalooza.  Jeeeze.  Last year Banjo Camp was the same time as the Cedar Key Art Festival, which is also known as MERMAID WEEKEND–my annual fun weekend with my mermaid friends.

Since Terry is the chairperson for the Homosassa Festival this year, we plan to attend as many of the local festivals as possible.  Just to see how the other places handle their events.  The Festival committee plans to make this the best festival ever!

Hope to get to these two…..

The Floral City Strawberry Festival is on March 5th and 6th.

The Swamp Fest in Weeki Wachee is March 11, 12 and 13th.

I’ll definitely be at the Cedar Key Festival on April 8 and 9th.  Cause that’s MERMAID WEEKEND! And I already missed it last year!  Oh right, I already whined about that.

You’ll probably be reading a lot about the Homosassa Festival here over the next several months.

I just finished the logo….  logo

The new Arts and Crafts application for 2016 will be on the website on March 1st.  www.homosassaseafoodfestival.org.

There’s more.  There always is! I’ll tell you about it next week!

Have a great weekend!

Kathy
