In the Garden – Plumeria

Plumeria are lovely.  But being tropical, they do not like it cold.  I lost three out of the four that were planted in the ground last year.  I always root three or four stems at the end of summer, just in case that happens.

The only in-ground plumeria that made it through the winter. I think since it was close to the water and under large trees, it was protected.

This is my neighbor’s plumeria orchard. She didn’t lose any to the cold but all of hers were shaded by large live oaks.

This is one of my neighbor’s blooms. I don’t have any yellow so I’m getting a branch from her to root.

This is one I rooted at the end of last summer. So easy. Just cut it off and stick it in the dirt. Doesn’t even need watered over the winter.

A two-year old cutting.

So easy.  So pretty.
