Friday Meanderings

scary tote

It’s Friday already!  It’s been a busy week. Which is okay ’cause I like busy.

To all my “friends” on Facebook, I was asked to make a page for the Homosassa Arts, Crafts, and Seafood Festival.  I’m not a FB expert and sometimes it perplexes me, but I did it.  So I invited all of my local friends.  Local as in Citrus and Hernando counties.  And if you didn’t get an invite and you live local, then you’re not my FB friend.  What’s up with that?

Speaking of the Festival, we are making all kinds of strides forward.  Almost everyone in a leadership position is new but all of the former chair people are hanging in as mentors and helping us out.  We are learning, learning, learning.  I’m not anything, just a worker bee.  Oh yeah, and I do all the webstuff.  So if you have any comments about the website, www.homosassaseafoodfestival.org, or the Facebook page, let me know.  I’m open to positive suggestions.  Don’t give me any of that negative stuff!

Speaking of web stuff, I’m putting all of my DIY over on my other site.  I know you miss learning about easy peasy pillows and totes.  Still running the giveaway.  So far, I’ve put these two bags and tutorials up….

And here’s a sneak peak at the fabric I’m using for the tote for this coming Tuesday!

You KNOW you want that tote! (Michelle)

And you can WIN it!  Enter the giveaway by commenting on Tuesday’s post and you are in on the totally random raffle! Although I gotta say there is one person (and only one) that has commented every week.  She’ll win for persistence if nothing else!

So what’s going on this week????

We are attending the Save Our Water Week dinner tomorrow night.  Haven’t done this before.  Not sure if I can walk in something other than flip-flops on my feet but I’m looking forward to dressing up.  Almost like wearing a Halloween costume. (I’ll have my flip-flops tucked into my tote, for sure)

There will be a bunch of water-related activities in Citrus County next week.  I’m hoping to go to one or two. And I’ll be bringing my water-proof camera so you’ll get to see some pics!  Almost like you’re there.  Well, if you actually want to be there, go to Citrus 20/20, check it out and make reservations.

Saturday is the Homosassa River Raft Race.  The Old Homosassa Heritage Council will have a booth at MacRae’s.  Come on out and get your t-shirt and a raffle ticket for your chance to win a golf cart.  Woo-Hoo!  All the donations go to restoring the Old Homosassa Water Tower.

Sarasota Slim is playing at 3 pm.  Definitely the best band that comes to MacRae’s.

Wow!  So much going on!

And here’s your pic of the week of our soon to be newly-weds!  How cute are they?  OMG!  Looking forward to the wedding! FIVE WEEKS!

Have a great weekend!

Friday Meanderings

Friday already!

Nothing going on in Old Homosassa this weekend.  Other than our art galleries, bars and bands and lots of motorcycles. Looks like I get to hang out here in “Perfect”!

Life is good.

The Old Homosassa Heritage Council had a very successful event at the Cobia tournament last weekend.  Not only did we raise quite a bit of money with the raffle and t-shirt donations, we got the name of our group out plus spread the word about our goals.  During the event, Doug, owner of Old Homosassa Karts, offered us a golf cart for our next fund raiser!  And he delivered it last night at our monthly meeting!

How cool is this???!!!!

The tickets will be $5.00 each with the drawing held at the Homosassa Arts, Crafts, and Seafood festival during the weekend of November 14-15.  As soon as I make the new logo for the tickets and get them printed, we’ll be selling them. (You know, besides enjoying Perfect, I’ll be doing some graphic design this weekend!)

The next few weekends will be slow here in Old Homosassa and then it’s crazytown! The last Saturday of June–the 27th–there will be three big events. The Mullet Toss is at the Old Mill Tavern. Proceeds go to the Homosassa Elementary School. The Freedom Festival–complete with a poker run and fireworks–is on the river.  And even bigger than both–it’s the first weekend of scalloping season. Motorcycles, boats, fireworks and mullet flying.

Oh my!

And we will have the Old Homosassa Heritage Council booth at MacRae’s of Homosassa and perhaps a golf cart out and about during all that pandemonium.  Fun!

I haven’t been posting my “Project 365″ photos on a timely basis.  Sorry. Perhaps I’ve got my priorities messed up!  I take the pictures but actually getting them into Photoshop and then uploading them is another matter.  It really isn’t that hard or even that time-consuming but getting to the computer at the end of the day just doesn’t happen.  Perhaps I should just load them up for the week on a certain day.  I’ll have to think about it.

All you locals, have you been to Frazier Farms for sweet corn and other lovely fresh vegetables?  Terry and I have found some reason to be in Brooksville for the last three weeks.  One dozen ears of corn, green beans, red potatoes.  Fresh.  Do I need to say more?

To those of you that know my sister and her issues, Terry and I went to visit her yesterday. All went well and she’ll be out of the hospital today.

Okay, that’s it.  Have a great weekend!

2015 Cobia Tournament

Terry, Maggie and I usually go to the early morning start when the captains and their crews take off.  Lots of fun on Saturday.  Sunday is usually more low key.  This is our first year that we were there for the Friday evening events plus Saturday and Sunday afternoons.  We were both amazed at the hoards of people that showed up.  Along with Rodney and Marian MacRae and John and Donna Fletcher, we sold a lot of raffle tickets and t-shirts.  Plus we got the word out about The Old Homosassa Heritage Council.  A very successful weekend!

Some snaps from the festivities.

Sunday morning is always a little more laid back. Less boats. Not so much excitement. No wake this morning. But that could be because law enforcement was waiting around the corner and snagged the boat that was leading the pack!
