The Hummingbird Feeder

and those that it feeds….

Baltimore Oriole
A Baltimore Oriole! First one we’ve ever seen. Doesn’t it know that this is Tampa Bay Rays territory?

Our Audubon friend, Vera, said that the only time she had a Baltimore Oriole at her house was after she put out oranges to attract them.

So I took her advice….

Damn squirrel

But the Oriole came back for the sugar water.  It is so shy that I have to take pictures of it through the window.  I even tried to just leave the sliding doors open a crack and take it’s picture but it somehow sees me and is gone before I get the camera picked up!

The ruby-throated hummingbirds do not mind sharing with the oriole.

    • Thanks Yvonne! And Donna, we seem to have a bumper crop of squirrels this year. I’m sure I’ll be featuring their antics many times. Damn squirrels.
