Shopping Local — Pepper Creek Pottery

Pepper Creek PotteryAll this partying for my birthday has thrown my posting schedule way off!  I planned on posting about our many local places twice a week.  But, everyday is a party this month and it’s hard to keep up!

Anyhow, let me tell you about Pepper Creek Pottery.  The shop is located in Old Homosassa on Yulee Drive right before the Homosassa Elementary School.  It’s the place with the homey front porch.  You will find lovely items from five local Homosassa artists. Angela Davis–Pottery and Jewelry, Martha Ann Brunsink–Pottery and Jewelry, Alicia Lowe–Pottery, Skip Staab–Pottery and Rustic Furniture, and Lee Partin–Pottery.

Angela Davis and Martha Ann Brunsink were in the shop the day we stopped by.  They are both incredibly friendly and eager to talk about their wares.

Pepper Creek Pottery donated a mug and a yarn bowl to raffle packages at the Homosassa Arts, Crafts, and Seafood Festival this year.  The Festival Committee was thrilled to be able to include these art objects.

There are many beautiful pieces in all price ranges that would make lovely Christmas gifts.  I have my eye on the olive oil dipping bowls as a gift for a special person and these manatee items are adorable!

Stop by and visit Pepper Creek Pottery, talk to the artists, and check out their supply for unique gift items.

Cookie Day 2015

Cookie Day 2015

I should have had this posted Monday.

But I’ve been busy.

Busy having fun and celebrating my birthday every day.

And here’s the official COOKIE DAY PHOTO FOR 2015!

Cookie Day 2015

In case you haven’t been following my blog for very long, let me explain….

We’ve been doing this for over 20 years. This isn’t your typical cookie exchange. It started with four friends getting together and baking cookies.  And drinking.  And eating a lot of really fattening food.

And those same friends are still getting together and we’ve picked up a few more friends as time has progressed and our daughters and daughter-in-laws have joined us.

It’s always been the Most Happiest Day of the Year.  And every year it just keeps getting better.

And here’s just a few random photos from the day.

And then, there was a surprise birthday party for me!

Because, you know, every day this month is all about a party for me!

Yes, while I was busy being the hostess of the cookie day, my husband and a few other husbands were out setting up the detached garage for a party.  And I had no clue.  Really the garage is right next to the house.

Clueless.

Plus, I was kinda not prepared!

Thank you to my husband, daughter Jes, and all my cookie baking friends!

And the month has just begun!

Oh my gosh.  So close to Christmas.

And my big birthday.  Yes this is it.  I’m going to be s-i-x-t-y in 22 days.

Scheesh.

But the good thing is that I’ve decided to celebrate EVERY DAY THIS MONTH!  And no one I live with seems to have a problem with that!

Daughter Jessica is here for the weekend.  And 10,000 friends and family are coming to my house this weekend.  Truly. 10,000.

Going on a trip to Big Shoals Park next week with friends.  (not all 10,000)

Yesterday we went to McCleod House Bistro in Inverness for very late lunch/very early dinner.  Is there a word for that?  LIke brunch.  Linner.  Lupper.  Dunch? Celebration?

Old Citrus County Courthouse

Stopped by the Old County Courthouse museum and the Valerie Theatre.  Just wanted to show Jes how cool Inverness is. (She has promised to watch “Follow that Dream”.)

And OMG, there are seats in the Valerie Theatre!

And Mrs. Santa was out front singing her heart out!

Then we went to Fox Den Winery and visited our friends.

I LOVE that place.

And then we went home.

Here’s the crowd in front of the Valerie Theatre wishing me a happy birthday month!

Okay.

What’s going on?

Monday.  Civic Club Meeting.  American Legion is cooking us a dinner of hot dogs and hamburgers for the club at 6:00.  Meeting at 7:00.  If you don’t already belong to the Club, now is the time to join.  $3.00.  For an entire year.  What a deal! And so much fun!

Wednesday.  Old Homosassa Heritage Council at 5:30.

Thursday.  Town Hall meeting with Commissioner Ron Kitchen at the Homosassa Library.  5:30 – 7:00, Homosassa River Alliance meeting at the Civic Club immediately after the town hall meeting.

December 15.  Golf Cart meeting with the BOCC.  Have NO idea what time it will be. I know, I know, the OHHC corresponding secretary sent out an email that it was at 2:00 but she has no idea what she is doing.  Because everyday is her birthday.  Everyone just needs to sit at the meeting the entire day and into the night. At the courthouse.

December 18.  Homosassa Civic Club Christmas Party. We are having a Christmas gift exchange of something we don’t want.  No animals allowed.  Maggie, you are safe!

December 19.  Party at Watsons Art Gallery.  Cat Valentine will be entertaining.  Homosassa River Christmas Boat Parade.

Sheesh.  Is that it?

Have a GREAT weekend!
