Who knocked over all my pots with herb seeds?

squirrel
What? Me? Never! Not guilty! What pots? Were there acorns in them? Why would you think I would do that? Do I look guilty? If you hadn’t put those bird feeders so high I would be eating seed instead of going through your pots! And let’s talk about the bird bath be ing dry two days this week! Who’s guilty? Hmmmmmm. Not me! Your fault.

Happy First Friday of April

April is my all time favorite month. Weather is wonderful. The flowers are amazing. It’s the BEST!

We had originally planned on having the Homosassa Mullet Toss and Spring Festival in April but just couldn’t get all the permits together in time. But May will be good. Put it on your calendar. May 15th. 10 am to 5 pm. We have a DJ followed by a live band. Dead Fish throwing for distance and into a toilet. Food Trucks. Hippie Chic Cheesecake. Jessica MacRae returns to the FREE kid zone with so many great games and amazing prizes to pass out. Local artists and crafters. OH yeah, and no entry fee.

And have I yet mentioned Gil Watson?????? Our local amazing high energy artist is creating the trophies and so much more.

Seahorse

Hoping that I can reveal more of the fun stuff planned next week.

And all the proceeds go to the Homosassa Civic Club for the many programs they sponsor.

One of those programs is the Old Homosassa Learning Center. (My favorite project–I’m the chairperson of the committee) All programs for kids are free. Plus we have adult sessions. Ukulele and Sew Cool & Crafty are at no cost. The instructors for yoga, belly dancing, and zumba charge $5 a class and all that goes to them.

The programs for the kids include individual tutoring and the summer camp. We do pay the teachers that provide that service. Because they are teachers. With Master’s Degrees. Because the Homosassa Arts, Crafts, and Seafood Festival was canceled we do not have the funds to continue these programs. We reached out to our community a few weeks ago and the response was amazing. We can increase tutoring plus hold the summer camp for six weeks! Yippee!

I’m closing with some snaps I took yesterday afternoon. Hope you love April as much as me!

Road Trip!

Or

We Went Past the Water Tower!

Off to Leesburg to see the Florida State Revenue Office. One of several permits needed to run an event here in Citrus County. There are numerous hurdles to leap but this is the only one that we have to actually make a visit to an out of county office.

Or so we thought.

We’ve done this trip many times. Annually for the Homosassa Arts, Crafts, and Seafood Festival. First time for the Mullet Toss.

And the office was closed. Ha! All these years we had to visit in person. Now, due to COVID-19, all that business is taken care of through email. Why didn’t we call? Because our state is not shut down and we just assumed……

Anyhow. We still went on to our favorite café in Wildwood so it was worth the trip!

Miz Kathyi's Cotillion Cafeand Bakery

Located right on 301 with huge trucks whizzing by. Can’t say that Wildwood is a quaint destination. But Miz Kathi’s is perfect.

Full of antique china, vintage decor, milk glass, cake plates and Southern witticism.

Miz Kathyi's Cotillion Cafe and Sweetery

This is Yankee Tea. Because it is Unsweetened.

Miz Kathi's

While it looks like a place for the ladies, the portions are huge. Not a dainty tea cake in the house.

Onion rings on top of meatloaf on top of smashed potatoes on top of bread with a side of Cajun fries. Terry was ecstatic to get real beef in a meatloaf!

Miz Kathi's Cottillion

I had a tuna croissant with a side of mac ‘n cheez. Obviously not a diet day!

Miz Kathi's Cottillion

The place is PACKED! The servers are FAST! (And masked as were all the customers when they came in.) You usually can’t get a table without a reservation. (By the way, there were three men in the café but being a chick place doesn’t bother Terry!)

There’s also a Miz Kathi’s Sweetery right next door in case you get turned away without a reservation.

Highly recommend. We have sent many friends there and they have never been disappointed!

Excited to be out and about again!
