Bits and Pieces for a Friday

It was cold here this week.  Not Buffalo NY cold.  But bitta…..bitta cold for Florida! We woke up to temperatures in the 30s on two days.  And that’s enough of that!

Okay. Let me explain this picture. I'm not used to wearing socks. Come on, it's never under 50 here. But today I had to wear socks because it was f****g cold. And I didn't realize until 12 hours later that my socks did not match. And I had lunch with my mother in law. Think she noticed?
Okay. Let me explain this picture. I’m not used to wearing socks. Come on, it’s hardly ever under 50 here. But yesterday I had to wear socks because it was crazy cold. And I didn’t realize until 12 hours later that my socks did not match. And I had lunch with my mother in law. Think she noticed?  Thankfully they both had a floral motif.

This dog looks pretty happy frolicking in the snow.  Wonder if he lives in Buffalo.

The feasting season starts next Thursday!  And I only lost 6 pounds.  I’m done posting about my weight lose failure.  But I’m a positive kind of person. There’s always next year!  2015!  January 2nd!  (Gotta a party to go to on the 1st–I have my priorities!)

Maggie will be 15 on December 5th.  Thought she wasn’t going to make it through last weekend, though.  She jumped off the couch and hurt her shoulder and was puny for a few days. Curled up in a ball in her bed in the closet. (She has a bed in every room) Coincidentally, we also had three grandkids here.  Jack Russell Terriers are really not good with children. As soon as they left she suddenly revived.  No more limp! She even walked two miles yesterday.  Such a little faker!

Maggie
I was not faking it. I hurt my shoulder. Really. Are those kids gone yet?

Local news! November is BIG TIME in Old Homosassa.  We started out the month with the Blues and BBQ, followed by the Homosassa Seafood and Arts and Crafts Festival the next weekend and now it’s the Country Rocks The River at Riverside on Saturday. Starts at 5 pm and you have to buy tickets that start at $12!  The headliner is Kevin Anderson.  I don’t know who that is but I bet a lot of locals do. MacRaes will also be having bands starting at noon.  We’ll be hanging out down there at some point.  Probably walk rather than ride our bicycles because last time we rode our bikes at night I fell in the bushes and had to limp home.  Terry seems to think I had too much wine but I’m blaming the bike.

Have a great weekend!

And Away We Go!

I’ve got lots to say today.  So, keep reading….

I’m FAMOUS!

Just kidding, but one of my most favorite blogs picked up my piano bench cushion tutorial. Check out sewmamasew.  I’m there!  Featured under “Handmade gifts for Music Lovers/Musicians” . They did email me quite some time ago to ask my permission but I kind of thought it might just be spam.  I mean, really, the curators name is ‘Emily Flippin Maruna’ and Google suggested that it might be a bad email.  But there I am.  Terry said maybe I’ll get some orders.  And I said, “for what?”  I design. Make one. And I’m done. Maybe I need to get an Etsy shop, but seriously, I just don’t have time because I’ve got things to make and places to go, which leads me to……..

Michelle, Connie, Kathryn and I are on our way to Renninger’s Antique and Collectibles Extravaganza in Mount Dora. TODAY! It’s our annual treasure hunting event.

Here we are last year!

 And the year before….

Wow, my hair turned gray between those two shots. Must have been a stressful year!

So many treasures!

I’ll tell you all about it next week!

And next up on my very important things to talk about….

I went to the “Save the Water Tower” meeting in Old Homosassa.  Yeah, in case you haven’t been following, the water district is planning to tear it down.  It’s a business decision because the upkeep is quite expensive.  But there are a lot of local residents that want to keep the tower.  It’s a landmark.  I was kind of in the middle on the whole thing.  I understand both the business side and the nostalgia side.  So Connie called and said that she was picking me up for the meeting. (What else do I have to do?) And there were 18 people there.  Including me. I thought it would be standing room only. But I gotta say that these people were really passionate about saving the water tower.  So I’m on board now.  It really is a cool piece of history.  So let’s save that tower!  More updates to come!

Besides all of that fun, back to my Friday healthy living update.  The weight is not coming off quite as fast as the first 6 pounds.  Could be because of that decadent Chocolate Ombre Cake that Michelle forced me to eat during our birthday festivities last weekend.  (Yes, she forced me because it would just be rude not to eat a piece…or two….or three….so good. And I strive to NOT be a rude person!)

Don’t know if I’ll lose the rest of those 10 pounds before the feasting season starts in a few weeks.  Will I have to eat carrots at Christmas?  Never!  Back on the diet today!  Oh wait, maybe Monday, got more grandkids coming this weekend and I see lots of junk food on the menu!

Ahhh, the angst.  Famous today.  Tomorrow, grandkids.  Have a great weekend!

Best Weekend Ever

The Entire Family

Here we are in the middle of the celebrations for Great Grandma Shirley’s 90th birthday party.  Arriving from Seattle, Phoenix, Bismarck, DC, Tampa, and Homosassa.  We weren’t expecting Alan but he made a dramatic appearance after showing up for work in the morning and being told that the train wouldn’t be running that day.  He grabbed the first flight out of Bismarck and was in Tampa that night still in his railroad engineer clothes.

Best Weekend Ever!
