Friday Meanderings

Dinner on the patio

I’ve been gone a lot over the past six weeks–three long weekends out-of-town.

I’m really behind in everything I’m supposed to be doing.  But I’m back and plan to get caught up!

phew….

So where was I on this last trip?

I hate having my kids living so far away from me.  We don’t get to see them nearly enough, but at least they live in fun places.

We were just in DC for 5 days to visit Jessica and Andrew.  They live in the Cleveland Park area which is a quick walk to the National Zoo.  (no, I’m not talking about congress or the presidential race)

We went there a couple times.  Just so I could get some photos of the pandas.

Finally got this pic of him.  Still not a great photo.

Bao Bao
Here’s the best snap I could get of the three-year-old Bao Bao.  The newest panda baby, Bei Bei was no where in sight on either of our visits.

So I gave up on the pandas.

This elephant was much more cooperative.  Because he’s kind of big and has no where to hide!

And the Bison

On the first visit they were both lying down with the faces in the other direction!

We went walking through the trails in Rock Creek Park every morning.

Which was a good thing because we did a lot of eating and drinking!

I think this looks like a photo shoot from Southern Living! Right?

We had a private tour of the Smithsonian Natural History Arachnid department by the curator, Hannah Wood.  Her mom is a mermaid!  Pays to know someone!

Took a touristy afternoon to see a few sites.

We also checked out all of the war memorials.

It was a great visit!.  We won’t be taking any mini-vacas for awhile so I’ll get back into my old routine!

Have a great weekend!  Maybe I’ll see you out and about!

Don Juan Rose

Happy Weekend!

What great weather!  April is my favorite month!  Every thing is being renewed.

Yesterday we had a bit of a torrential downpour.  But that lasted a very short time and the sun came out and life was beautiful again.

See this rose?

Took the pic in the early am….

And the same rose in the late afternoon….

And that’s what it’s like in Florida in April. (Almost worth July and August)

So what’s going on this weekend?

I have no idea!  I’ve blocked it all out.  I already have plans!

I’m headed to Cedar Key for “Mermaid Weekend”.

It’s also the same weekend as the Cedar Key Arts Festival.

I’ll be there!

Maggie and Terry will be holding down the homestead.  Fortunately, Maggie just sleeps because Terry will be watching the Masters!

Have a great weekend!

Took them home yesterday and then spent some serious time napping.

Sheeesch.

A couple weeks ago I mentioned that I was shutting down the DIY website.

Maybe a bit pre-mature.  Perhaps a result of exhaustion from doing toooooo many meetings, toooooo many projects, tooooooo much politics.

I’ve been missing my sewing machine.  And then my sweet Addison–the 9-year-old granddaughter–said she LOVES my DIY blog.  Oh geeeeeze.  I told her that I was shutting it down.  Noooooooo!

So now I’m having second thoughts.

I actually think that she likes checking it out so she can make sure that I’m not making more for Piper than for her! “What!  Piper has a mermaid tail blanket????”

And I told Addison that if she took photos of any DIY project she was working on, I would post it.

I’m so indecisive. If you have been following the other website, I’ll have a QAYG post up next Tuesday.

So what’s going on this weekend?  Hey, it’s Easter.  Christ is rising.  Isn’t that enough?

Have a great weekend!
