Not many people know about the Chassahowitzka Salt Marsh Trails that are just a short drive out of Old Homosassa on Mason Creek Road.

We usually ride our bikes.  The trail is a little sandy but not too difficult to ride.

There is no water available and the website says no restrooms, but I did spot a porta-potti when we went there a few weeks ago.

It’s a beautiful place to view the refuge.

Big Holiday Weekend in Old Homosassa

It’s been HOT here.  Yeah, we’ve been running the AC.  Up until this Friday when Winter suddenly made an appearance.  Just briefly, but long enough to make it feel a bit Christmasy and to flip over to the heat setting on the heat pump.  The chilly weather was perfect for all the holiday festivities.  And I got to pull out my Christmas sweatshirt!

The fun all started with the Homosassa Civic Club’ Annual Christmas Party on Friday night.  Turkey, ham, and potluck sidedishes.  Yum.

The golf cart Christmas parade made a special stop to say hi.  Didn’t get any snaps but I did get some fun shots of the gift exchange.

Fluffy was the most wanted item.  Roger Cullen did not want to give the stuffed cat up.  It had many different owners but went home with Joe.

Fun, Fun, Fun!

Saturday afternoon the Homosassa Civic Club hosted the Children’s Christmas Outreach.

Special Guest, Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Wait a minute, that’s not a Homosassa kid!

Santa and his wife were the main event but there were also hot dogs, lots of cookies and cupcakes, and crafts.

Helpers were ready to create fancy-schmancy Christmas Stockings.

Then we moved on to Watsons Art Gallery Christmas party.

Chef Burt gave Dylan and Jack bikes and helmets. It was so fun to see how excited the boys were.

Jack’s usually quiet but he was grinning from ear to ear with his gifts. Both boys took off on their new bikes.  Dylan ran into a large art piece and Jack explained how exactly brakes worked.

Next party….

The boat parade.  Took lots of snaps but was using my iPhone.  What was I thinking?

There were a bunch of boats this year!

We had one more holiday event on Sunday but I’ll tell you about that tomorrow!
