Busy times in Old Homosassa

Yesterday’s paper announced that Gov. Scott moved up scalloping season to this Saturday!  Zowie!  So this will be our first crazy Summer weekend in Old Homosassa.

Here’s a couple peaceful pictures from last weekend….

We are the only boat on the Homosassa River

View from the park to the spring, also known as the blue waters.  Lovely.

Not only does scalloping start on Saturday, there’s also fireworks on the river that night. July 4th is on Thursday so we have a lot of out-of-town people for the week. I’ll post some pics from the weekend on Monday.  Fun!

Sunshine Gardens

My sunshine gardens have run amuck.  I planted a few pentas around the bird bath early this spring but that’s about it for this year.  We had such a mild winter, everything from last year survived and tripled in size.

Passion Flower, very invasive but is a host plant for the Gulf Fritillary.   It’s also doing a good job of covering up the fence.

This looks like a Gulf Fritillary caterpillar munching on the passion flower vine.  Or it could be something else entirely!

Local Places, Local Faces

Seagrass Pub

Pretty, Pretty, Pretty.  But Pretty is as pretty does.  Pretty building and décor but after two experiences, not so pretty food or service.  Anyhow, wondering what all the other locals that read my blog have to say?

Terry was unhappy with his wings. I LOVED the homemade potato chips but that grilled fish was so sad.

Marguerita Grill, looking good!
