Al-La-Palooza Countdown

Well, it’s over.  At this moment, the North Dakota family should be flying home after a very eventful two weeks.

It was a lot of work but a lot of fun.  Friends and family from all over the country converged here in Old Homosassa.  Many showed up early and helped pull it all together–turning a garage and tent into party central!

Our friends from the hood, Connie and Tim, provided the catering–a delicious selection of Cuban food.  Paul, Sue, and Jeremy, neighbors on our canal, bar-tended.  (Bet they’ll never do that again!)  Bill, across the street, and Des, next door, invited us to use their yards for parking.  My sister, Ellen, made the unique wedding cake.  Our friends Yvonne officiated and Donna video taped.  My niece Michelle and her husband Jon were instrumental in getting everything pulled together–when I panicked because the wall covering wasn’t working in the garage, they jumped in to save the day!

And, of course, the bride and groom came up with the decor and so many clever ideas to make the Al-La-Palooza incredible!

So the Al-La-Palooza countdown is complete.  But, happy news, we have another engaged couple in the family–Jessica and Andrew.   Now we just have to find out the date, place and make up a new fun festive name.  I’m thinking something with extravaganza–let the party planning begin!

More fun to come!

Trash the Dress

Something new to me is the idea of “Trash the Dress”.  Brides have one last photo session that takes place after the wedding and they ruin their dress.  Really?  Crazy cakes to me.  But Lauri is wearing her beautiful wedding dress to her North Dakota reception next month so that was not an option.  Fortunately, she had an extra wedding dress so we still had our photo session!  Not quite trashing–but lots of fun.
