This was the first official weekend of scalloping but bad weather came through and the hoards stayed away. But Old Homosassa was ready!

Summer Time, Part II
I mentioned yesterday that we were on the River last weekend. We had “the girls” here for three days so left early one morning for Monkey Island! We’ve tried this before but never can get out of the canals before the littlest is asking “When are we going home?” But we bribed them with crackers, chips and juice boxes and not only made it to Monkey Island but actually got to the Spring!

We also saw two manatees, five dolphins, and one turtle! A big day for us and sea creatures!

Busy times in Old Homosassa
Yesterday’s paper announced that Gov. Scott moved up scalloping season to this Saturday! Zowie! So this will be our first crazy Summer weekend in Old Homosassa.

Not only does scalloping start on Saturday, there’s also fireworks on the river that night. July 4th is on Thursday so we have a lot of out-of-town people for the week. I’ll post some pics from the weekend on Monday. Fun!
