We did a little sight seeing while in ND. I think people that live in the frozen tundra appreciate the sun much more than us in Florida that just take it for granted. Here’s a few places we visited.

The Missouri River

Everyone seems to have a boat and/or a camper and use them every chance they get.

Fort Abraham Lincoln

Took a trolley that ran along the original train tracks. Got off one stop short of the fort to see the Slant Indian Village.

Then we walked to the fort. Custer was the commander at this fort and marched off from here to meet his fate.

Craft Fair and Car Show in Bismarck

I have never seen a Ford Hardtop Convertible and there were three on display!

Along with the typical craft show vendors, artists were creating chalk art on the sidewalks.

The weather was wonderful and we had a great time, but I was missing home and home we went! We’ll be back next summer.

St. Patrick’s Day in Crystal River

You know I love a parade.

And dogs. Yes, love those pooches.

What could be better than a PARADE of DOGS!

Terry and I traveled up the road a bit to finally, after all these years, see the St Patrick’s Dog Parade hosted by Burke’s of Ireland Pub in Crystal River.

And it was better than even I expected!

First we watched the pre-parade entertainment from Muttsville Comix. Dogs did some death-defying tricks on the high wire, up ladders, and hoisted into the air. A conga line, some jumping in and out of boxes and through hoops.

It made me kind of sad because those dogs–in all shapes, sizes, and breeds–didn’t look like they were enjoying it.

But then came the best part. The entire pack just ran amuck. Led by a very brave Jack Russell. Three times. Three times they broke through the barrier and went out to meet the audience. Dogs gone wild!

The trainer wasn’t too happy. Told everyone in the audience to keep their dogs back. Way back from his show.

Come on. He didn’t know that we were at a DOG PARADE?

And then we met a bunch of pooches…

Not just dogs, but people!

People in the parade — The parade was on the sidewalk! No traffic problems! We can try this in Old Homosassa when we get our sidewalks!

But the dogs were the best.

We stopped in at the wine bar and then took a walk through Burke’s of Ireland.

But I just wasn’t ready at 10:30 am for a green beer or even a Guinness.

But this guy must have already been hitting the bar….

Meanderings on a Monday

Happy first day of December. Also known as Cyber Monday. Which just followed Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. So many titles. So little time…..

before Christmas!

Anyhow…..

We went to DC for Thanksgiving…

Had a great time….

caught a cold….Have not got a lot of energy or sarcasm at the moment, so I’m just putting up some pics…..

Cooking — We had a wee kitchen to work in.

But still made a great turkey. Used an infrared oil-less turkey fryer out on the patio!

family — Here we all are. Maggie is looking adorable on the couch. And I have no idea why Andrew suddenly donned that apron. Some kind of tradition, I guess…

Mattie the cattie — And here’s Mattie the Cattie! Lest you think we poisoned both the cat and the dog, there’s a roaring fireplace right behind Mattie that made both of the pets pass out!

More photos tomorrow of our adventures in DC! If I can wake up long enough to pull the photos off of my camera and write something snarky. Yeah, that’s the word for the week. Snarky.

Back at it tomorrow!
