Happy Friday the 13th!

It’s Friday the 13th. And we have another bunch of bad weather on the way. Seems appropriate.

I forgot to post last week.

And I had so much to say. Guess I really didn’t or I would have posted!

So what has been keeping me busy? The Old Homosassa Learning Center started the 2019-2020 After-School Enrichment Program last week. Usually we keep registration open for at least a month but we are completely full! Art, ukulele, guitar, and piano. There’s also a kid coming to the Sew Cool! Workshop.

The adult programs are also doing well. Yoga, Zumba, Body Scultping, Ukulele, and the Sew Cool! Workshop. Something for just about everyone!

I’ve been trying to design a new cross-body tote. I put a new tutorial together and passed it on to a friend so she could test it and she couldn’t understand it. At the Sew Cool! Workshop we sat together and went over the directions. Step by step. I think I left out a page! Or at least a picture! I don’t think that pattern will be released anytime soon!

Exciting news from the Old Homosassa Heritage Council. The water tower project is just about finished. The landscaping is complete with the exception of pavers that will be installed soon. But we will be moving onto another project and still need to raise money. Our next event will be in February. I’ll be posting details in the future!

The Festival Committee of the Homosassa Civic Club is busy getting ready for the Homosassa Arts, Crafts, and Seafood Festival on November 9-10. We have new volunteers that have new ideas. This will be the best festival ever!

I’m continuing with helping the Girl Scout working towards her Gold Award. It’s been a poor year for scallops so she hasn’t been able to put anymore scallop shells in the crab traps off of our dock. And scallop season is just about over. She has been attending meetings–like yesterday’s Homosassa River Alliance–to learn all about the local waters.

I think that’s about it.

Have a great weekend.

Friday Meaderings

And just like that, it’s Labor Day weekend.

Have to put my white pants away.

Have to make sure we have water, gas, beer, food.

Cause, just like that, we have a hurricane on the way. (I should have stayed a couple more weeks in North Dakota!!!!)

Cause, it’s Labor Day and that’s one of our traditions in the state of Florida.

Rumor has it, our local gas stations are out of gasoline and at the grocery store the shelves of water are bare.

That’s probably not quite true because rumors seem to take on a life of their own. During Hurricane Irma when our governor suggested that the entire state evacuate, the stores and gas stations were very quickly emptied as the hoards from the southern counties fled. And the same story went out. No food. No gas. No water. Have to say, Publix was quick to deliver and refill the shelves in our little local store. And gas was eventually available. But living here for most of my adult life, I’m smart enough to keep our vehicles on full and water comes out of our faucets!!!!! As long as I have lived here in Old Homosassa, we have not lost our water supply. Could happen. (But I know the people that run the water district. Not happening!) Just in case, I just fill every container we have and stick it in the freezer. Now, if we run out of beer that could be an issue!

On to another subject….

The Old Homosassa Learning Center is scheduled to start its after-school enrichment program next week. Art on Mondays, Ukulele and Guitar on Wednesdays and Piano on Thursdays. All sessions are full! And we have great volunteers. Tutoring is also available on request. All thanks to great people in our community! And we keep it free thanks to all of our friends that go to the Homosassa Arts, Crafts, and Seafood Festival!

Here’s a pic from yesterday!

Vacation Friday

I’m in North Dakota! Visiting the family.

Our sweet little Adley turned FIVE YEARS OLD yesterday! And anyone that she met during the day knew it. “Today’s my birthday!” from the moment her little head lifted from that pillow to the minute it went back on that pillow that night.

It's my birthday!

I’m very fortunate to have had the opportunity to spend some of Adley’s birthdays with her.

And this is not only Adley’s 5th birthday, it’s also her open house for kindergarten!

I went to Piper’s open house three years ago, too.

Okay, enough of those kids and my vacation for today. (I’m here for another week so you’ll probably get more pics in my next post!)

Back in Homosassa…

Terry and I went to Wallace’s at the Green House Bistro for lunch last week before I headed out. It was good. Well, mine was really good. I got the “beyond burger”. Yum. Terry said his mahi sandwich needed more seasoning or a dressing. Service was good and the view was of butterflies and hummingbirds right outside the window.

They had only been open about a week. Looking forward to going back in about a month to check it out again.

Terry wasn’t able to come to ND with me. He sent me this pic. The water is high and the rain continues!

And another pic from before I left, this is the view from my sewing room….
