Happy Last Friday of May!

Just a rose.

I had to cut the alamanda all the way to the ground. The wooden trellis had rotted and we had to replace it. It finally started blooming this week!

The giant bees love this butterfly bush. Several spend their days buzzing around it. It’s right on the corner of the walkway and they get disturbed every time I go out to the yard.

Local stuff going on in Homosassa. The governor has been gradually opening up the state. Last week he announced that summer camps can resume. We struggled with this issue a few weeks ago and decided to cancel The Old Homosassa Learning Center camp for this summer. I believe that was the right decision for many reasons. Now we are making plans for our after-school program. Also planning how to open the center for the adult programs. Hoping to be able to put this into action by the end of June.

The Homosassa Civic Club has canceled their June meeting after taking a survey of members. Other activities are being set up that will take place in the outdoors for the community. Watch the LED sign in front of the Old Homosassa Learning Center for updates!

Have a great weekend!

Happy Almost Memorial Day!

Lots of people and boats coming into Old Homosassa to enjoy the gorgeous weather. Looks like all the VRBOs are full despite the state not letting them reopen yet. We won’t be on the water this weekend. Every weekend in April and May its been like scalloping season. Way too many boats in way too small of an area!

I didn’t post last week because I just had NOTHING to talk about! But I’m back with pics. And maybe a few words.

So I have a butterfly garden. Actually three.

But not many butterflies. I get monarch caterpillars on the milkweed but I think the red wasps eat them. Have not seen any swallowtail caterpillars on the parsley although I plant a bunch of it just for them.

There was one little monarch butterfly that would not hold still. I’ve been stalking it for two days and it just flitters about. I think it must just be a very happy butterfly. This is the one and only time it did settle down for a moment. And then it flittered off again.

I have five of these hamilia bushes. But the zebra longwings only like this one. I can always find one or two there.

Lizards are everywhere. And seem to like their pics snapped. They always pose for me.

And here are some birds…

This one is probably eyeing that lizard!

Plumeria. The yellows are always the first to bloom.
