Friday Meanderings

I had to rush off to banjo camp last week so didn’t get my “pic of the day” posted so I’m making up for it today.

Banjo Camp is held at the Cervany Conference Center in Live Oak. Beautiful views.

Lots of banjo players there. They come from all over–mostly the southeast but I knew of at least one person that came from Maine. My friend from Minnesota was there but she winters in this area so I guess that doesn’t count as the furthest traveled!

Banjo camp was fun. Kind of sad I’ve been playing for over 5 years and have not progressed all that much. But I was secretly pleased to see several people that have also been going to camp for many years in the same “Lower Intermediate” sessions.

Back home in my sewing room I’m obsessing over bunnies. Started with finishing up this tote and thinking an Easter bunny would look really cute in the pocket.

And then there were two!

I then decided that they should be smaller! And now I know that smaller means more difficult!

About six weeks ago I gave the two roses their annual trim. This week there are blooms everywhere!

Friday Meanderings

Good Friday Morning!

Did you go to the Shrimpaplooza? It was a bunch of fun, as expected! I was in the parade, playing my Uke, singing “When the Saints go Marching In”. I lost my voice that day and it still hasn’t recuperated!

We wore shrimp hats!

I was on TV! (I know–you want my autograph!)

After the parade and festival ran into my friend DeeDee and she gave me a “shrimp in a shrimper boot” necklace! Thank you DeeDee!

My neighbor Sue gave me a “Peace” necklace. Guess she likes the big peace sign on my screen room that she gets to look at every day. Or maybe it’s that peach sign on the back of my jeep??? I didn’t get a pic of that new necklace, though.

Next big event is Old Homosassa Community day. This will a bunch of fun, too, and will raise awareness about our local community groups. Rather than writing about it all over again, just go out to NatureCoaster.com and read my post there.

I’m off to banjo camp today. Yes. It’s a real thing. All the instructors are banjo stars. Really. Bill Evans, the guy that wrote the book “Banjos for Dummies” is teaching. I bought that book before I got my first banjo. Read it from the beginning to the end and back again. I’d get his autograph but how does one sign a kindle version? Another reason to only buy real books!

I didn’t get to work on my “pics of the day” yet. (not that I’ve actually taken a pic a day) Slept in. Gotta go pack. So I’ll give you double the photos next week!

Have a great weekend!

Friday Meanderings

Another beautiful week here in Perfect!

Not so beautiful in my office, though. My computer had an argument with my printer and both decided they’d had enough and just SHUT DOWN! And I was trying to design a new flyer for the after-school enrichment program. In my past life I was a computer and network specialist so usually can troubleshoot these issues pretty quickly. But this one was really bad. I actually considered calling tech support with Adobe but that usually leads me to talk to someone that not only doesn’t understand computers or software but also doesn’t speak English. (shut your computer down, reboot, oh that didn’t fix the problem? Let me send you to someone else, dial tone.) Took awhile before I remembered about the printer/computer fracas and finally unloaded the printer drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled a bunch of software and was back in business. Yikes. (I was really close to just ordering a new computer.)

And I made a new stationary header that you’ll be seeing on flyers!

This is the first one and it’s promoting a new after-school program at the Old Homosassa Learning Center. Mrs. Shirley Keller asked to hold an art class and that will be starting on April 1st. Open to children in grades 2nd through 5th we can only accept 10 kids. The session will run for seven weeks. Then we’ll have a couple weeks break and right into Summer Camp. Of course, it will be free like all of our children’s programs.

Busy weekend coming up. Shrimpapalooza on Saturday. The Museum Cafe is also holding their second annual “Art By the Park”. I’m trying to get to both of those.

Make sure you mark your calendar for the Old Homosassa Community Day on April 6th from 9 am – 5 pm. This is my baby and has been taking up vast hours of my time. Just added a cornhole tournament. $10 a team. You can sign up the day of the event by 12:30! Winner gets half the pot. The other half goes to the Old Homosassa Learning Center.

The Homosassa Elementary School chorus will open up the entertainment at 10 am followed by the Homosassa Ukers. Then it will be open mic with Chuck Andrews for the rest of the afternoon.

And don’t forget the “movie in the park” on April 13th. Bring your golf cart, chairs, blankets. Terry and company have been pulling this together for the past year. The county is actually setting all this up and Rural King will be providing popcorn, soft drinks and water! I saw a picture of the screen. It is MASSIVE!

Now time for pics. Which I didn’t take every day. But I did take a whole bunch of pictures on our boat ride last Sunday. So I will leave you with…..
