4th Annual Mullet Toss at the Old Mill

It was HOT on Saturday.  We worked at the Old Homosassa Heritage Council booth at MacRae’s of Homosassa from 12 – 2 then headed to the Mullet Toss to see what we could see.

And we saw about 5 deputy cars sitting there.

So when we parked, we asked, what’s happening?

While I was thinking drug bust, the deputies actually stopped by to support the cause!  They all took a turn at throwing the mullet.

Volunteers paid for the deputies entry fees.  How cool is that?

All the money raised goes to the Homosassa Elementary School and other kid programs.

That’s our neighbor Paul. Doing the Parking. He has pink tape on his arm to show that he can have free water. And Paul says **** that water, where’s the beer?

Looking forward to the 5th Annual Mullet Toss! And I’ve heard rumors that there will be a golf tournament in September.  Have to find my golf shoes!

And it begins…

It’s Summer!  Time for scalloping!

This was Saturday morning at the boat ramp by the MacRae’s Bait ShopI

SAturday morningTrucks and trailers were parked all over the place when we went back down to work our 2-hour shift at the Old Homosassa Heritage Council’s booth.  I especially hate that they park on the sidewalks.  Grrrrrrrrr..

But here’s Sunday morning.

boat rampWhat??? Where is everyone?  We drove out of Old Homosassa later that morning and no trucks and trailers.

If it would only stay this way!

Not likely–next weekend is the holiday.

CRAZY TOWN!

On the Homosassa River

On a beautiful sunny morning, Terry and I went out on the boat.  From the mouth of the river all the way to the spring.  Wanted to have a quiet day before the summer hoards of scallopers descend on our little community.
