Car Show at Black Diamond

Couldn’t possibly make all the fun events that were scheduled for the weekend in the county but we did get to the Black Diamond Invitational Car Show.  Over 200 cars.  All arranged around a fairway.  The weather was unusually warm for this time of year, but I will NEVER complain about sunshine and 80 degrees in November!

Car Show at Black Diamond

Terry and I were actually on a mini-mission.  Looking for cars from 1951.  Found two. Weird mission, right?

The owner of this car was really cool and happy to help us out.

Why do people insist on getting into my pictures?

This guy, not so helpful.  But it was still a nice car.

There were a lot of shiny cars there.  Over 200.  Here’s some of my favorite.

Once again, some guy got into my photo!

Okay.  This is the one I wanted to take home.  Well, maybe a different color! Once again, left without a new car!

There is a direct correlation between how active I’m in the community and the quantity and quality of my blog posts.  Seems every day there’s a meeting, a volunteer session, or I need to update one of the community websites.  So I apologize for the lack of posts.  I’m still here, just out and about.

Terry is even more involved than me.  I’m not up for physical labor–he’s out there moving concrete patio tables and marking lines on the road.  Me, I’ll stick with my computer work!

So what exactly is going on this month???

Black Diamond is having an Invitational Car Show tomorrow.  We’ll be there in the AM.

In the PM we’ll be at the Blues & BBQ in Old Homosassa.  The last two years have been cold or rainy at this outdoor event.  This year we are having unseasonably warm weather.  I’ll go for shorts and tanks over sweat pants and gloves anyday!

Cool Corporate Cats, the 18th Annual Blues and BBQ festival in Old Homosassa

The Stone Crab Jam is in Crystal River Saturday evening.  We hear that this is the best festival of the year in Crystal River.

Next weekend is the Homosassa Arts, Crafts, and Seafood Festival. At the Festival we have “Shades of Gray” entertaining us from 11:30 to 1:30 then Cat Valentine from 2:00 to 5:00 on Saturday. On Sunday Rick Standard will perform from noon until 2 and then “Under the Willow” takes over.  All of our crafts and arts booths are FULL.  We have mermaid t-shirts and posters for sale.  And all that yummy food. Don’t even think about going anywhere else!  Unless, of course, it’s over to the Shed where my favorite band “Sarasota Slim” is performing both days.

When you come to the Festival stop by the Old Homosassa Heritage Council booth and get a t-shirt and a raffle ticket. Money goes to restore the water tower.

Also, the Learning Center is having a raffle for the original art work by Gil Watson for the t-shirts and posters.  $5.00!  I’m volunteering at the Learning Center now.  So this one is personal to me, also.  Hmmmm, now I’m thinking I should be suggesting that you NOT get those raffle tickets.  Cause I want to win that painting.

And one final note, the next crime watch meeting in Old Homosassa is November 23rd.  Mark your calendar! This is a really informative meeting.  If you live in Old Homosassa, you should be there!

Have a great weekend!

Friday Meanderings

We were in Tampa last weekend for Darin and Kathryn’s wedding.  The venue was the Davis Island Garden Club.  Fun. Fun. Fun. Got to see all of our children, grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other assorted family members. I didn’t bring my camera to the wedding so my only pics were from when I remembered to use my phone.

Just wanted you to see the beautiful view from the Davis Island Garden Club.

Here’s my tall daughter with my short friend Donna. Okay, Donna’s not really that short. She’s in a hole.  Which we thought was really funny.

I did manage to get some snaps of three of my adorable granddaughters! Piper, Kendall, and…..

We stayed at the ALoft hotel in downtown Tampa.  Gorgeous views and the riverwalk right outside the door.  We lived in Tampa for many years and were really excited to spend a few days there.

It was a fun-filled weekend full of family events.  For the past four years we’ve either had a big wedding or significant birthday to celebrate and it’s been so great seeing all of the extended family and catching up on their lives.  Kind of like a reunion where we get all dressed up.  Hopefully we can continue with this new tradition–without any weddings!

So what’s going on this weekend?

Halloween parties, of course!  Going to be a great big moon to make things extra spooky!

Next Saturday, Nov. 7, is the Blues & BBQ at the Museum Cafe in Old Homosassa.  It’s a great concert and if you buy your tickets in advance, it’s $5 cheaper.  Gonna get ours today!

Then the Homosassa Arts, Crafts, and Seafood Festival is the following weekend. November 14-15.  Fun!  $2.00 admission, kids are free.  Lots of great food, unique crafts, and beautiful art.  And there is entertainment this year.

But don’t bring your dog!   Maggie will be very sadly staying home.

The Old Homosassa Heritage Council will have a booth just outside the Festival.  There will be raffle tickets for a golf cart for just a $5 donation!  And the lucky winning raffle ticket will be drawn on that Sunday afternoon.  Need not be present to win. Don’t you want to win a golf cart? Don’t you want to support the Old Homosassa Heritage Council?

If you are into treasure hunting, the weekend of November 20 – 22 is the Renninger’s Antique Extravaganza in Mount Dora.

That’s it!

Have a great weekend!
