We made it through the Homosassa Arts, Crafts, and Seafood Festival. Yay! We have been working the festival for five years now. And this was definitely the biggest and best festival. Over 13,000 people paid admission over the two days. I say “paid” because there are many that sneak in or refuse to pay plus we do not charge kids. So I’m saying we had at least 15,000 attendees.
The problem with having that many people is trying to get here. I had a woman tell me today that they tried to get to the festival both days and couldn’t. Too much traffic. There’s only one way in and one way out!
If you had planned on coming and didn’t make it, I still have some t-shirts in inventory for sale. They are very cool. The featured artist was Jen Callahan. It’s a Seafood Festival so we went with seafood!

We went right from festival into planning for the Christmas party for the kids. It’s December 14th at 2 pm. Not only will Mr. and Mrs. Santa be there, but we also have a face painter and a magician! Along with all the snacks and crafts. Santa has great gifts to give out. (The committee is headed out on Tuesday to do the shopping because we have a 15% coupon at Ollie’s!) Best Kid’s Party Ever!
The Homosassa Civic Club also works with the Homosassa Elementary School to provide gifts to children that might not have Christmas. We are signed up to help 30 kids this year. The club is looking for donations so we can help more children have a happy Christmas. Interested in helping? You’ve got my email!
By the way, today has a few holidays. This one is my favorite “National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day”. There is nothing in my refrigerator so I am with the program!
Another holiday is “National Peace Day”. That’s cool. Little story. I think this is funny. You might not. Anyhow….my Jeep has a pink peace sign on the tire cover. (I thought it was pretty fun when I bought it but sometimes I now think it could be a moving target!) Yesterday four of the kids at the learning center offered to carry my ukulele, banjo, and other bags out to my Jeep. They are sisters. Two are 16, the other two are 8 and 10. The little ones said, which car is yours? Then they remembered. Oh you have the car with the pretzel on the back. I said that’s a peace sign. They said, what does that mean? I said it’s back from the hippie days. At that, one of the 16 year olds said, no it isn’t. And I have to say that the older girls are walking encyclopedias so they are probably right. But I’m going to say that to me, it’s back to the 60s. Okay?
