Friday, Again!

Rain. Rain. Rain.

That’s what we have been experiencing this week. But thankfully Hurricane Sally is just sending us bands. Not the whole entire flooding situation that Pensacola is experiencing. It makes me sad that we pray and wish these hurricanes away but they still go on to destroy someone else’s home.

Hurricane season is over in November. Still lots of systems out there.

Okay. On to other stuff.

Once upon a time before our current pandemic situation we had lots of events to visit and I could post about them. Now. I can mostly only post about restaurants that we visit! So here we go.

Nautitimes last Friday. I had the Shrimp Burger. Terry had the breaded shrimp. Both very good.

Then the next day we went to Wild Sassa. I had the fish tacos and T had the Shrimpy Burger. Yum. Yum. Yum. The civic club put picnic tables there and we like to sit on one of them and watch the river. And that is why all of the peeps in the original “Access to the River” committee fought for five years. You can sit at the Homosassa River and have coffee in the morning or Shrimpy Burgers for lunch. It’s a PARK!

Went to get our Flu shots yesterday. Then went to “Just a Cupcake” that is now in the Hospice Thrift Shop. We wore masks. The chef did not. Nor did a lot of the volunteers. But many of the shoppers were appropriately masked. I don’t get it. But I don’t understand a whole lot of stuff right now. The sandwiches were good. $8 bucks each. Didn’t have a cupcake.

And we do have EVENTS!!!!

The amazing Jessica MacRae and the Key Club will be having a Halloween Party for our local kids on October 24th. 4 to 8 pm. It will be outdoors other than sign in. She will also be hosting a craft day in November.

In December the Homosassa Civic Club will be holding the annual Children’s Outreach and Christmas Party.

Details coming!

The Homosassa Civic Club held their September meeting outdoors at the Old Homosassa Heritage Park and Working Waterfront. In this pandemic time there was a great turnout.

The above photo shows most of the board. Terry Green, president, is in the center. Connie Wright, secretary is on the left, and Roger Cullen, vice president, is on the right. Incidentally, they are all part of the “Access to the River” committee. And the two women on that back picnic table, Kathy Beck and Barb Fletcher are also part of that group.

And this is all the members that admitted to having a birthday from March through September!

And. Have to say that this little sweetie is the youngest attendee to our meeting. She has been coming to our meetings since she was an infant. Such an adorable and happy two-year-old!!!!!!

DOG OF THE WEEK

I always think I will see like 10 dogs every day. Not so. Cause I can’t actually go out and meet my favorite poochie pies. This adorable long haired dachshund was at Nautitimes while we were there at lunch. (Love it when places allow pets!)

And last. But not least. Smashed my knee on July 4th. Surgery on July 9th. Finally. Able to put weight on that leg. Three more weeks on crutches. Then I’m free. Okay. Not really. Have to continue wearing the splint. But. I WILL WALK AGAIN!

We are going to Inverness on Saturday to watch grandson Jack play in a baseball tournament at Whispering Pines. Love that park.

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Kathy
